De in Slowakije wonende kunstenares Maria Svarbova legt de hypnotiserende symmetrie van het zwemmen vast in haar serie kunstfoto's. Ze gebruikt binnenzwembaden als de setting voor modellen om te poseren in atletische rekoefeningen, duikhoudingen en zwemslagen. Het resultaat is een opvallende portretkunst die de eentonige patronen van tegels combineert met heldere steunkleuren om een retro-esthetiek op te roepen die soms de sfeer heeft van een Wes Anderson-film.
